Yesterday I walked into McLead Ganj with Dave Clark. Nice walk.
Spent time looking at shops and eating at Restaurants. (A good meal with coffee is around $A2.00!)
Around 3.45 I began to walk back by myself. Well- I got lost and all I could do was retrace my steps back to McLeod Ganj. However, I did catch the interest of around 15 monkeys who came very close to me as I moved quickly along a very isolated lonely track. Fortunately a 'brave' wave of my walking pole shooed them away.
On getting back to the town after an hour I was able to meet up again with Dave and take a taxi back to the cottages.....hmmm great views off the edge of the road!
Here's one of the 'proud' members of the monkey clan.
Tomorrow, Wednesday 14th, we begin our trek.
We will be climbing to 4000m and have our heavy luggage carried by donkeys with all of us under the care of very experienced guides. I am a little apprehensive but at the same time excited about being on "top" of the world in the beautiful Himalayas.
I'll be thankful for my 'borrowed' sleeping bag and mattress in my 'borrowed' tent for the overnight stops!.
