Proposed itinerary for trip to India October 09..organised by David Clark
Depart Adelaide Thursday 8th 1600 Malaysian Airways. Overnight stay Kuala Lumpur
Friday 9th Look around KL. Depart and arrive Delhi 11pm Stay at World Buddhist Centre
Sat 10th depart early by Jeep Taxi for Himachal Pradesh and The Himalayas. On way visit the amazing Rock Garden in Chandigarh. Arrive McLeod Ganje, Meet our host Prem Sagar. Short jeep trip to Sagar Cottages, our accommodation for the next week...Beautiful views, wonderful food and surroundings, a 50 minute walk down to busy McLeod Ganje and the Dalai Lama’s Temple
Sunday 11th A Rest day
Monday 12th to Thursday 15th. Some or all of these. Explore, day walk to waterfall and other places, Check out McLeod Ganje and Dharamsala, walk through Villages, Build fitness, Do a course in cooking , Visit the temple, Teach a monk English and learn some Tibetan, Have fresh mango for breakfast while you simply look at the magnificent Himalayan ( my favourite thing), await the unexpected.
Friday 16th Visit The Tibet Children’s Refugee Village, Suja. My Tibetan sponsored daughter Kalsang Dolkar and family live and work here. We may finish up talking to the students about our life in Australia and also learn about their journey from Tibet. I am making a documentary about the wonderful work being done by the teachers.
Sat 17th and Sun 18th Participate in the Diwali Festival….The Festival of Light which is held all over India
Monday 19th to Thursday 22nd Trek to Triund and Indahara Pass. We will have individual porters to help us and everyone can walk at their own pace. Start getting fit!!!
Friday 23rd Day off
Saturday 24th Lunch with all the friends we have met
Sunday 25th This is the end of the organized part of the trip. People may wish to stay at the Cottages or move down to Mcleod Ganje to do some courses or organize their own excursion to The Golden Temple in Amritsa, take a slow trip back to Delhi via Simla and a tour of the Taj Mahal. There is also a full moon festival at Varanasi on the Ganges River on the 1st and 2nd of November. Samra, a friend from Willunga, and her Indian driver Arjay are organizing tickets for the train from Delhi. We will need to book our tickets early as the train will be booked out by pilgrims and tourists.
Tuesday 3rd Nov Depart Delhi and arrive Adelaide early morning Thurs 5th Nov
